PBI draws the attention of the Human Rights Council to extrajudicial executions in Kenya

In June PBI drew the attention of the United Nations Human Rights Council to extrajudicial executions committed in Colombia, Honduras and Kenya.

About Kenya, the full statement reads:

In Kenya, we express concern about the 130 cases of police killings in 2022 documented by Missing Voices, three of them while in police custody. Women human rights defenders following these cases face threats and witnesses are unwilling to report for fear of repercussions and lack of confidence in the criminal justice system. In addition, we express our concern about the 12 killings by police documented by human rights organisations during the protests in March this year. We insist on the need for Kenya to make the National Coroners Service Act fully operational.
