To be safe and effective in defending human rights it is important to know the context you work in. In April and May, HRDs from Social Justice Centres and PBI Kenya held actor mapping sessions in Kayole, Kibra and Mathare. The sessions helped us to plan for constructive engagement with community members, fellow civil society and the government.
From March until the end of 2024, PBI Kenya together with Kayole Community Justice Centre, Kibera Social Justice Centre and the Mathare Network (Ghetto Foundation, Ruaraka Community Justice Centre, Kiamaiko Community Justice Centre and Mathare Social Justice Centre) set in motion a project to improve relationships and dialogue between HRDs, citizens and security forces in their respective areas. The project titled “Making Space for Peace- Investing in collaboration between Police and Civil Society in 3 urban settlements in Nairobi, Kenya”, is supported with German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), zivik Funding Programme.
